Retractable awnings give you shade when you want it and fold away when you don’t. We make ours in our own workshop — measured on your patio, built to that measurement, and fitted by the same team. They are strictly produced in accordance with EU certification standards, which excellently protect from sun and rain. At the same time, our Docril fabric has passed the UV-proof standard 801 certification, which greatly improves the UV-proof and anti-aging functions, making the product durable. Available with pelmets, wind sensors, and electric or manual operation, for patios, balconies and courtyards, residential and commercial. Mitch quotes every job himself. There’s no useful average. The price moves with the span, the fabric, and whether it’s manual or motorised — a small manual fold-arm and a wide motorised system are different jobs. Our awning price guide gives a from-price for each type. Mitch quotes every job himself after measuring on site.
Most of them come back to fabric and tension. Highveld sun degrades cheap acrylic quickly, and the arms lose tension if the awning is left open in wind. We use Docril acrylic and Sheerweave sunscreen, both chosen for UV stability, and Tenara thread on repairs. We also service what we fit — recovers, refits and fabric replacement.
It isn’t a roof. A retractable awning has to be closed in high wind, so it gives you shade on demand rather than permanent cover. If you want something that stays put through the weather, a fixed awning or a louvre system is the better answer. We make both.
Both work. Manual is simpler and fine for smaller spans or occasional use. Motorised earns its place on wider awnings and anywhere you’ll open and close it daily. We fit either, and we’ll say on site which one suits the span rather than defaulting to the upgrade.
